Economic Problems Continue

Following reports that most American and foreign car companies have had horrific sale numbers in the last month, American Airlines has announced that they are going to be cutting 7,000 jobs. This follows a stock market that is at it's lowest levels since 2002, which follows the weakening dollar. All these numbers and news are depressing in more ways than one. Along with the high gas prices and the mortgage mess that happened last year, it doesn't look like the economy will be able to recover anytime soon. I doubt that this has anything to do with politics, historically, after a period of tremendous growth, there has always been a period of decline. Perhaps this is the market leveling off after going through almost a decade of growth in the 1990's. One can hope that perhaps in the very near future, the economy will straighten itself out.

Just a funny ad I saw last night. Thought it worked well with the Boston Celtics championship. Apparently this ad has been running throughout the Finals, but I've never seen it until last night. Makes good use of humor and celebrity endorsement to push a product line.

Nike Ad

I don't think that this advertisement is effective because it doesn't really have anything to do with the brand Nike. Some people may even feel insulted by the nature of the Ad.

McDonald's Commercial

McDonald's introducing their new breakfast sandwich. They are still in the introductory stage.

Last Two Posts

In all honesty, neither of the two ads below are fair. It doesn't accurately describe the agenda of either candidate. However, it uses emotion and humor and therefore gains more viewers and attention than just a spokesperson sitting there saying facts.

Obama- Not Wallet

This is a parody of the McCain ad. This makes fun of the dramatization, and suggests that Obama will unfairly raise taxes. Once again, not really factual but uses humor instead of emotion.

John McCain- Baby Alex

This is an ad from moveon.org that attacks John McCain's "100 years" statement about the war in Iraq. It's not really factual but it's effective on playing towards people's emotions.

Fool me once, shame on me!

Recently shopping I noticed how marketers try to trick the consumer by snazzing up there Ads. For example: many items advertise two for five dollars. The items is still an increased price of 2.50, the same as it was last week, but now a marked ad exaggerates this false deal. This is very tricky and easy to fall victim to. The only reason I noticed is because it a brand product I usually buy and keep track of the cost.
